Review: Clinique City Block Sheer SPF 25

This is most definitely not a new product, but one which I definitely think needs a blog post all to itself, its that special.

I have already talked about the importance of sun care, and I now have a little round scar on the back of my hand to remind me to wear sunscreen everyday. Neutrogena Sport is a great sunscreen for body, and I do use it on my face, but I have found that Clinique is better. For me, anyway.

Firstly, City Block is tinted, so it can be worn alone or under makeup and looks fantastic. It isn't a tinted moisturizer, so moisturizer still needs to be worn, it's just a tinted sunscreen. The tint is very light, so I use it under make-up, and on the days when I just want to wear a tinted moisturizer, I use the Dove Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15, or the Nivea Q10 Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15, both which have a bit more pigment to them.

Secondly, City Block is SPF 25. I know its not quite SPF 30, but it is so close that I don't mind. I have become a bit of a fuss pot with sunscreen since "the mole", the tinted moisturizers mentioned above only get a look in when I am at home/work and only seeing the sun for ten-ish minutes everyday. Since I normally wear City Block with my foundation, which is SPF 18, the layering effect helps (I think. I hope!).

Thirdly, City Block is oil free, so she doesn't add anymore oil to the oil rig that is my face. Which is grand. I definitely don't need something else to create break-outs, Uni exams provides more than enough stress for that to occur. It's also appropriate for sensitive skins, and around the eye area. My eye cream doesn't contain SPF, so it's useful that this is okay to put around your eyes without it stinging.

Finally, and the real winner for me, is that City Block can be used as a primer. The back of the prod states that the "lightweight formula helps to wick away sweat and perspiration and absorb excess oil so makeup looks fresher, longer". I can't comment on the sweat part yet, but I do know that it does help to control the oil reasonably well. Although its not as amazing as my mattifiying primer, I don't really mind, because City Block's main job is to be a suncreen, and the fact that she acts as a primer is an added bonus.
